In-branch account opening
I led the team that built Citibanamex's account opening system, which verifies the customer's identity and closes the sale in under 15 minutes. It was rolled out to 100% of branches.

Context
Citibanamex needed to unify its sales processes and cut customer wait times in its branches. The account opening system verifies the customer’s identity and completes the sale in under 15 minutes. It was my first account at Globant.
Responsibilities
- Leading a team of 5 across Front End, Back End and QA.
- Web UI development.
- Consolidating the sales processes into a single system.
Outcomes
- Branch service: I digitized customer verification and automated the eligibility logic. Eligibility became instant, customers served per day rose by more than 70%, and opening an account took under 15 minutes.
- Nationwide rollout: the system reached 100% of branches and remains in operation across all Citibanamex branches in Mexico.
- Technology shift: a technical demo I built convinced the client to move from Avoka Maestro to React.
Technical challenges
The bank had asked for Avoka Maestro, a WYSIWYG tool with limited customization that required every action and event to be written in vanilla JavaScript. As React was gaining traction, I put together a technical demo to show what it could do and how fast we could deliver with Scrum. Based on that demo, the client decided to switch technologies.
